Motivators Help
I was considered an introvert while growing up. I tended to stay to myself and had trouble mixing with others.
I never got invited to parties, although that was way before social media. But I did play sports and learned a lot about team spirit and mutual support and motivation to win.
When I went to college, I found that I was more dependent on myself to get my day started and make time to attend classes and get my homework done on time. I did a couple of all-night projects, like a term paper, to see what they meant by “the old college try”!
Along the way, I heard about writers known for motivation to give a positive approach to self-motivation. One was Norman Vincent Peale with his book, The Power of Positive Thinking. He was a minister which appealed to my spiritual nature and promoted the importance of faith and the power of prayer. We only control what we can do but all the other influences of our time and circumstances are controlled by God. Hence, there is a real need for humble prayer to help our progress in life. Then, be thankful, not boastful, when things go well.
As far as motivation for careers and wealth building, I would suggest reading Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich. Then, when you get ideas that can mean opportunities, consider reading or listening to sales and business motivators such as Jim Rohn and Zig Ziglar. Of course, there are others who have built a motivational speaker career based on those predecessors.
Assess Yourself
Are you finding success in your work and personal life? Perhaps, your parents were good motivators. Perhaps you were blessed with motivated teachers or coaches.
However, if you are not satisfied with how your life is going or how others react to you, you might need to assess your own actions and reactions to situations and other people.
Your self-image shows in your actions and reactions. They especially show in your reactions to interruptions, disappointments, and lack of cooperation from others. As much as we think our time is important, we do not exist alone. We need others to succeed, which is an important point to consider in your planning and actions you intend to take.
A poor self-image and a lack of confidence will cause us to react with emotions and not reason, with lack of sympathy instead of understanding. I have seen very smart people sabotage their future success to be “like everyone else”. That is a poor self-image. You need to make the most of your talents to allow you to help others when you find success. That is a more positive self-image!
Get Beyond Excuses
We all make mistakes, poor decisions, and say the wrong thing. How we react to them determines our progress or disappointment. Making excuses only avoids making corrections.
Apologies are hard to make. They require humility, an admission of doing wrong. We may have hurt enough that they will not forgive. But forgiveness is on them, not you. Your responsibility is to ask for forgiveness.
The real lesson here is that we make fewer mistakes when we know more about what we should do and more about how we need to do things.
Your confidence has more to do with what is going on in your mind than what is going on around you.
With a lack of faith and confidence in your abilities, you will work more on excuses than improvements!
Motivation to Improve
AI has everyone excited and concerned. Questions can be more easily answered. But how do we verify the facts?
Your self-image will show better with an effort for real intelligence. Reading will help. Collecting facts will help. However, you will need motivation to make the effort to collect information. Planning your days must include allocating time to improve your intelligence.
So, what works as motivation? To start, give yourself a reason to be motivated, which usually means a purpose to start each day.
Goals make good motivators. And goals can go beyond becoming wealthy. Your goals can be very simple, like making a friend or visiting a place to eat or a museum. The goal itself is an end. The process of reaching the goal is what is most important.
Life is full of details. That is why having goals is so important to your daily plans. Some goals are simple and have few steps to accomplish. Other goals are very complicated, very detailed, and may take a long time to accomplish. Although more details can be completed in a shorter time span with good focus on daily plans.
Even if you just tell yourself that your intention is to become a better you today, you will be more motivated to recognize what you could do to realize that goal.
Improve Your Self-Image
My own observation is that most of us with poor self-image tend to make a lot of noise to distract others from seeing our self-image. Once the noise calms down, the image becomes clear.
A somewhat contradictory sounding thought is that our self-image will improve when we give more importance to others. That is, we can see the importance of serving others. Jesus referred to this in Mark 10:44, to paraphrase, if you want to be a ruler you must be the servant of all.
When you are focused on your own success at the expense of others, you care less about your effect on others. Who wants to follow that person?
When you are willing to make the extra effort and spend the extra time doing things right and understanding the needs of others, then, you will be considered care full. Not only will others want to be around you, but they might see you as the type of person that can help them with their own goals.
Learn what you can from those who succeed but make note of their care. Do they care less or care full?
Work on Yourself
My goal is to help you build a better mindset for money. That will require you to look within yourself to help you make better decisions with your money.
Your self-image is important. And you can improve that with self-awareness and the recognition of changes you need to make.
It will take time and effort and daily planning for progress. Just don’t make excuses. Apologize when you must and go on. Success is waiting for you.
If you work to improve your confidence, your faith, your willingness to serve others, then, your self-image will improve, and others will notice. Opportunities will come your way.
Be prepared. Read. Set goals. Plan your day with improvement in mind.
Remember, your self-image shows!
