Walk It Off
I want you to be able to handle the difficulties that come your way, in your life. That may come in the way of an unreasonable boss or coworker. Or you might lose your job. Or your spouse may want to leave the marriage. Or you may have a defiant child.
Unfortunately, I have experienced all of those. I hope you do not.
That said, I feel that I survived because I was willing to walk. I was not always regular about it. I found my time for walking allowed me to think, to pray, to consider what and why things were happening around me. We worry about things. However, with conscious thinking about those worries and asking for spiritual guidance in prayer, eventually, answers and ways to deal with the situations that worry you will come to mind, if you give it time.
I include blogs about your health practices as they relate to building a better mindset for money since they will affect your willingness to act on disciplines that you need to be successful.
Walk in the evening to be able to get restful sleep. There is an old proverb that might help you remember to do this:
“After lunch, rest a while. After supper, walk a mile!”
I know that some may hesitate due to pain they experienced with exercise. And pain thresholds vary, but, when I was in high school, my track coach told us to work on “pushing back the pain barrier”. When we had a muscle spasm, he would say, “Walk it off!”
Run If You Can
When I was younger, I would jog. That will help to build endurance. Mornings are good for jogging. Listen for the birds waking up!
As we age, walking becomes the exercise of choice. And it will help you make the choice to replace a joint, if needed. (I have two new knees and I can walk much better!)
Stress Needs Relief
Stress will come. And I know you can get through it. It will not be fun. It will require courage and endurance. There will be better days ahead!
If you internalize it, you will develop ulcers or indigestion. I hope you have someone to talk to about your concerns. Walter Anderson, in his book, The Confidence Course, noted the importance of keeping a journal about your worries. It helps to be able to see that most of our worries never come to pass.
When no one is available, I have found that a walk on a starry night will help you to see how small and short-term your problems really are.
Take Care of Home
“Home is where the heart is.” Take care of it and it will take care of you. Your family is a big part of the rest of your life. Nourish your relationships.
Before you commit to a marriage make sure you have common ground about handling money. Poor money handling can add enormous stress to your home life. And I am not sure the daily walks can relieve all that stress. Although, it will help a little!
Make the right choice and you will be happy and supportive of each other. Your life will be so much more rewarding!
Plan to be Fit
Jim Rohn was a motivational speaker, who traveled the world to speaking engagements. He often spoke of the need to maintain a healthy lifestyle to keep up with his schedule. When speaking to young people he noted, “An apple a day will keep the doctor away. What if that is true?” For him it was, along with exercise to keep his endurance up and his weight in check.
Can you say the same? Whatever your current situation is, you can plan to do better and progress to where you really want to be physically. For that to come true, you will need to set some related goals.
However, having goals is not the same as reaching goals. It takes discipline to form good habits. Discipline is taking an action and repeating it, on purpose, until it becomes a habit.
Be Flexible
While you are planning to be fit and how you will accomplish those goals, be flexible with your time management, your physical progress, and your mental ability to be patient with yourself over the process of reaching those goals.
Allow yourself time to change. However, be conscious of what needs to change to put you on the right path. Use your time while walking to consider what you need to change. Make plans and write them down to help you stay on task.
When I was young, I enjoyed watching Jack LaLanne on TV. He had an exercise show, and it was very entertaining. He walked the talk. He trained for endurance and promoted that concept. You can still see him on YouTube. He did many feats of endurance that left quite a legacy in the field of physical training.
Whatever needs you think you have for greater physical endurance or strength training, work at it. Make yourself do it until it becomes a habit. As Jim Rohn liked to say, “It is easy to do, and it is easy NOT to do.”
Let Your Goals Be the Reason to be Fit
Give yourself a better chance to endure challenges in life. Physical fitness can help your mental and emotional fitness. Reading the right books and regular walking might even help your spiritual fitness, as well.
Since so much of the advice you get related to building a better mindset for money relates to accumulation, I should note that accumulation comes with consistency over time. That takes discipline. Being physically fit, with endurance as a part of your training, will help you to be more patient with the concept of accumulation. Fitness builds with effort. Your financial fortune builds with effort.
Consciously work on fitness and endurance to be able to make the necessary effort to reach your goals, both physical and fiscal.
