We All Have Resources
Resources go beyond money, but they do include money. Other resources include time, assets (things you can use to save or make money), your health, your base of knowledge, your personality with a positive attitude, and friends or family.
If you are lacking in any of these categories, you need to work on building better resources. Money alone has a limited value. When you add the other resources, you can multiply your potential growth—personally and financially!
A Mindset to Improve
As I blog to help you build a better mindset for money, I want to express the need to be willing to make improvements. We must not allow ourselves to think we have reached our capacity or our potential.
Reading is a good example. After reading a book, you should reflect on what you gained from your reading. The few minutes you spend doing that will reinforce the benefit by acknowledging what you added to your mental resources.
That is just one book. There are many, many more. Have you read them all? If not, then, do not tell others that you know all you need to know.
Over time, I built up a willingness to improve by reading such books as Norman Vincent Peale’s The Power of Positive Thinking, Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, and Stephen R. Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The messages were clear. Change for the better is possible and can have a huge benefit to your relationships and your finances.
Confidence Comes from Applying Knowledge
There are many decisions we make in our life where the right knowledge would give us more confidence and could enhance a better long-term effect on our relationships and finances.
We often get drawn into a situation where emotions or personal connections can affect our ability to be patient or cautious. Or, you may have persuasive people around you with their own agenda and requesting your support. These are big distractions that can divert your attention from evaluating what is going on around you and if that situation will be beneficial to your future success.
You must take care of yourself first to be able to care for others, later. After all, some decisions can affect your life for years. My hope is that you will do some research for every major decision in your life to increase your confidence that you are making a good decision.
Granted there are many other factors that will affect those decisions over time, such as the decisions of others, the economy, or lack of cooperation with managing time and money.
However, common interests, common beliefs, and the power of reasoning can increase your confidence and success with decisions related to relationships and time management and money management.
Build a Knowledge Base
If it works for AI (Artificial Intelligence) why would it not work for you?
I am talking about a knowledge base. Facts and figures will help with your decision matrix, “If this, then that” logic.
If that sounds too simple, then be cautious about using AI. Check and verify.
There is nothing wrong with delaying decisions on the side of caution, to allow you to read and study what knowledge is needed to make a more informed decision.
That approach will help every aspect of your life.
Apply Your Knowledge Base
You will be more resourceful with your base of knowledge:
- Make time to learn about time management. Put planning, reading, and study into your daily habits. That will improve your use of time.
- Learning how to exercise and eat well will allow for better health, which will reduce your health maintenance costs and allow you to work better and longer.
- Your relationships will benefit from studying to be more sympathetic and understanding of the need for encouragement and positive reinforcement.
- None of us can succeed on our own. Learn about why we need friends and family. And they need us. Be mindful. Be considerate. Be loving.
- We all need money. Be a good steward and help others around you be good stewards, as well. If they are not, then perhaps they need more understanding. Can you teach them? Better do some more reading.
- Be aware of what you have as resources. And be aware of what you need to learn to be able to add to what you have.
Be Resourceful
As you build a better mindset for resources, including money, I hope you are willing to be consistent in your efforts to improve.
Every day needs your attention. Your future depends on your effort to learn what you can to make more informed decisions.
You must be mindful of how your decisions will affect others. Be considerate and caring. Be smart and get the facts. Remember your needs and their needs.
Be resourceful. Be thoughtful and be confident. You can make informed decisions!
