Get a Grip
For many years of my life, I let poor choices ruin my financial well-being. I failed to build assets because I thought I had none. The truth was that I was my best asset.
My hope is to help you build a better mindset for money. I want to help you make better decisions for your life than I did in a crucial period of my life.
You have value. You can put more value in your skills, your knowledge, and your vision of your future.
It is time for you to get a grip on what has held you back and what has caused you to make poor financial decisions.
Hold on to what is important and you can climb out of any pit in which you find yourself.
Strength to Lift Yourself
Any athlete can tell you that you will get stronger by pushing against resistance. Your muscles will tire, but rest will restore and you will realize that your muscles have strengthened.
Jim Rohn had a simple word picture to illustrate this principle. He said do 5 pushups and rest a little. Then, do 5 more. Rest a little and so on. Then, you can do 10 more. It’s a miracle! However, do not rest too long in between each set of pushups!
And don’t forget the mental pushups to help you build character. Working through difficulties and setbacks requires patience and hard work, not sitting in a chair with your head down. That takes faith and a will to move ahead despite the obstacles. You push to become stronger.
It is important for you to strengthen yourself to be able to lift yourself out of any pit you find yourself in.
Pray for a Path
We all want to be self-sufficient. But sometimes we find it hard to know which way to go, what path to take.
I am a believer in the Christian faith. And, though your religious beliefs may differ from mine, faith in a higher being, our Creator, can help us to see our value, how our life matters. We are here for a reason.
We are given the power to reason, to think. That is a blessing that should not be taken lightly. It is an asset.
However, we do need some direction. To follow a path that will benefit others will help to fulfill our creation, according to what I have read in the Bible.
Prayer is the tool we were given to use to help us find our way. Hopefully, you will read your Bible and learn how to pray for a path to get you out of the pit you find yourself in.
Be Thankful for Help
Good help may be hard to find. But search and you will find help, those with good advice, who have studied and know what will work, will prove to be assets in your life.
The key is to use good advice and avoid bad advice. Until we learn to pray about that choice, we may find ourselves slipping away from our goals and the path we felt good about following.
Good advice will help your assets grow. If your debts grow instead, then you need to question the directions you were given.
Remember this, I want you to find those who can give you good directions to follow. A path that benefits you financially and stabilizes your relationships.
Finding help like that, which gets you out of the pit you found yourself in, is something to be thankful for!
The Mystery of Faith
The effects of faith are a mystery for many. Like seeing your prayers answered, some see that as something that would happen anyway. To me, I consider the influence that God can have on the decisions of others that can lead to prayers being answered.
Faith is the evidence of things not seen. That is a frequent reference in scripture. Life can be less stressful when you have faith that you are not alone.
What choices do you need to make about your situation? Do you feel overwhelmed? You are not alone. Work on your faith.
Pray for faith to help you find a path out of the pit you find yourself in.
Daily Steps Help
I promote planning your day, month, and year as a tool to help you build a better mindset for money. However, it is the daily steps you take that get you to your goals!
Remind yourself daily of where you want to go, such as get out of the pit you have put yourself in.
Set goals to give yourself a vision of how your life can be better, which will motivate you to keep pushing yourself to get stronger mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Ask yourself each night, “Did I do what I needed to do to make life better for myself and those around me, which will help give me value to others?”
Sometimes that will seem like a hard question with no good answer. But the daily steps will help you get where you want to go.
Nothing Works Until You Do
If you have found that you have dug a hole and are not standing on a mound, you need to change.
Climbing out of your hole may sound like work, and it will be. But the results will become a way to help you begin to see life as it could be.
Changing your attitude, your willingness to work, and your acceptance of your responsibility for your actions will be the best steps you can take to fill the holes in your life.
Jim Rohn, a leader in motivational speaking, talked a lot about what helps people succeed. And he would always start with what his mentor, Earl Schoaff, told him, “Learn to work harder on yourself than you do your job…Don’t wish for fewer problems, wish for more skills.”
Change will require action on your part. Nothing will work until you do!
Get Out of Bed to Get Ahead
Manage your time. Make the most of the time you are given each day.
Zig Ziglar, a well-known sales trainer, referred to his alarm clock as his “opportunity clock”. Each day is an opportunity to make improvements, add skills, and take steps to get you closer to your goals!
Building a better mindset for money requires you to give value to time. You can add value with time. Adding skills gives you more value in the marketplace. Adding time to investments gives them a chance to compound earnings to multiply their value.
Each day offers a chance to add to your value foundation, to raise yourself out of that hole!
Get out of bed to get ahead!
Help Others Be Glad to See You
Once you find a way to get out of that hole you made that has held you back from what you hoped for your life, others will be able to see you. They will be glad for the changes you made to get out of the hole.
Do not be prideful. You had help. There was evidence of things not seen. Acknowledge that. Be humble about your change for the better. Others will be glad. They will come to see you and learn how they can find a better path to follow that can help them get out of the hole they made for themselves.
Help them to look up and get out of their pit!
